چکیده

purpose: to assess foveal thickness by spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (sd-oct) during acute anterior uveitis (aau) in hla–b27 patients. methods : foveal thickness was measured at baseline and after clinical resolution of the uveitis. data of the affected eyes of 11 patients were compared to those of a fellow, healthy eyes and to those of counterpart volunteers. results: at baseline mean foveal thickness â± sd) was 190 â± 28 âµm in affected eyes, 166 â± 20 m in fellow eyes (p < 0.001), and 162â±14 âµm in control group (p = 0.01). on the second oct evaluation, no significant change was observed in affected eyes while the difference versus fellow eyes and control group remained statistically significant. conclusions: a significant increase in foveal thickness was observed in eyes with hla –b27 aau when compared with healthy eyes. the difference persisted for at least one month, despite full clinical and functional recovery

Logarithmic transformation of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography data in uveitis-associated macular edema.

PURPOSE To determine the utility of logarithmic transformation of spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (logSD-OCT) retinal thickness data for assessment of clinically meaningful changes in uveitis-associated macular edema. METHODS Patients with noninfectious uveitis-associated macular edema at our institution between August 2010 and March 2011 were identified. Only those with SD-OCT i...

Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography for Macular Edema

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a rapid noncontact method that allows in vivo imaging of the retina and it has become an important component in clinical practice. OCT is a useful ancillary tool for assessing retinal diseases because of its ability to provide cross-sectional retinal images and quantitatively analyze retinal morphology. The introduction of spectral-domain OCT provided major...

Comparison of Macular Thickness in Diabetic Macular Edema Using Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography and Time-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography

Purpose. To compare the macular thicknesses in diabetic macular edema (DME) measured with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and time-domain (TD) OCT. Patients and Methods. The average macular thicknesses of 50 eyes of 29 patients with DME were measured using SD-OCT and TD-OCT. Results. The mean macular thicknesses measured with TD-OCT and SD-OCT were 401.5 ± 117.8 μm (mean ±...

Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) In Vascular Diseases of The Macula

The review of OCT will deal with two prototypical diseases involving the macular vasculature and circulation. Diabetic macular edema is the most common cause of loss of vision in a diabetic. This retinal microangiopathic disease that has protean ways of presentation has lead to a evolution of a tailor made management approach thus deviating from the long honored diktats of the famous trials whi...

Potential Applications of Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) in the Study of Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) is the most common subtype of dementia. As the prevalence of dementia is projected to increase, the burden of the disease on society is expected to become increasingly significant. The link between eye pathology and neurodegenerative diseases has been established in multiple studies. In particular, optic nerve parameters associated with neuronal loss in AD include retin...
